Tha’s reight welcome!
Yorkshire Day – Kallin Hoil Caffeh! (Chatty Cafe)
This is a new initiative, created by young people involved with the Yorkshire Dialect Society who want to learn from others how to natter in dialect.
We’re launching it as an idea on Yorkshire Day!
A chatty cafe where folk of all ages can have a brew and learn how to natter in PROPER Yorkshire dialect together.
We need a mix of ALL folks from ALL backgrounds and of ALL AGES … to trundle along and support this ‘wundrus’ idea. Bring t’bairns an t’grand bairns if they’re ovver 12!
Free! Sat 1st Aug. Huddersfield 2pm (will rotate around other Yorkshire locations thereafter)
Friends Meeting House, HD1 4TR

Welcome! Splittin Fawks Up 🙂
For the first half hour, you can choose whether to: 1) Listen to some Yorkshire dialect poetry and prose OR 2) (If you’re COMPLETELY new to Yorkshire dialect) get some quickfire learning words and phrases from an experienced (young!) Yorkshire dialect speaker (“Ower James-lad”)
