YDS Talks, Annual Broomhill Festival, June 18th

As part of the Broomhill Festival, three members of the YDS will be giving a talk at Broomhill Methodist Church (venue details below) on the 18th June, from 1900 onwards – there will be the usual eclectic mix of dialect stories, poems and humour (Rod Dimbleby and Josie Smith) and a talk on Sheffield place-names by Jon Fyne.  This should make for an entertaining evening (indeed, to possibly out-entertain even the likes of Windsor Davies and co.), in the words of Josie;

“an informative and entertaining programme with some gorgeous photography, some intriguing place names, a bit of history and some original dialect stories and verse”

Broomhill Methodist Church,   281-123 Fulwood Road, Sheffield S10 3BD.

The venue is situated at the junction of Fulwood Road and Manchester Road (next door to Oxfam.)    There is very limited space for parking (about a dozen cars) in the church car park at the back, accessed via Ashgate Road; otherwise on-street parking in several local roads.

For those coming by public transport, the church is on the 51 and 120 bus routes out of the city centre, and a short walk from the 52 bus route.
